In particular we would suggest a visit to Rancho Burger and more than one visit to Greg's juice bar which is in the shops that back onto the private and secure property where the villa is located.Solar Smash is a planet destruction simulator, it allows the player to use a variety of different weapons to destroy the planet. The caretaker family who live on the secure property are really lovely and helpful people, and the resident dog (named Luna) is a friend to everyone! There is a well stocked supermarket a short walk away but if you're not up for cooking there are a multitude of dining out options for any budget. Greg the owner is a great guy who is super helpful and will do what ever he can to make your stay enjoyable. The Santa Teresa beach is really close and you can easily walk to Playa Hermosa, where there are fantastic rock pools which you can swim in at low tide (it's directly across from the Tapas Restaurant as you head towards Playa Hermosa). A huge comfy bed, excellent air-conditioning (installed in the bedroom, but it can cool the whole place), nice bathroom with a good shower, kitchen and verandah complete with a hammock. The villa is designed with a couple in mind.
We stayed in the Carambola Villa for a bit over two weeks and had a really lovely and relaxing stay. I truly appreciate all their efforts and look forward to our return. It is evident that they have a sincere and genuine interest in your comfort and satisfaction. The true magic of the place however comes from Greg, the Owner, and the resident caretaker family. We also love the fact that everything you need is within walking distance from Villa Solar- the beach access is across the street, grocery store is a couple minutes walk down the road, several restaurants within a stones throw, and a smoothie shop directly below! We only rented a car for a couple of days to visit some neighboring towns/beaches. Very easy to assimilate into the surroundings and unwind. Spending the afternoons in a hammock on the large rear porch watching monkeys inspect the trees for ripening fruit. It is the simple things that make our stays unforgettable- having a cup of coffee on the front porch after a morning surf and watching the street below come alive with activity. Upon our arrival were welcomed by the Owner (Greg), caretaker family that lives below, the neighbors (local Tico family who run a restaurant and laundry across the street), and Luna the resident dog! What can I say that hasn't been said before?.Our return trip to Villa Solar was fantastic and we are already planning on another visit for the holiday season this December! This was our second stay at the Villa Almendro unit and it truly felt like returning home. Thank you, Greg, for making our stay so wonderful. We loved chatting with him each day, and his recommendations were always spot on. Greg communicated with us frequently before we arrived, and helped out whenever we needed advice or arrangements for transportation, fishing trips, car rentals, recommending restaurants or any other activities. The BEST thing about the property is the host. We cannot say enough about how perfect this property was for a 2 1/2 week stay with two couples. We traveled with a small dog, and the host was very accommodating in every way. Luna, the dog on premises, was so friendly, and we enjoyed taking her for walks on the beach. We used the outdoor grill several times when we ate in. The unit is extremely clean, the bathroom was modern, and when we checked in we found that the pictures didn't do the unit justice. We found it fun to meet new people from all over, yet everyone respected each other's privacy. There is a hammock on the porch which we used a lot! You share the balcony with the unit next door, but you each have your own area.
The unit is fully air-conditioned, and was a great retreat in the hotter afternoons. The porch is lovely and surrounded by greenery (and monkeys!) and we spent most of our time out there. It has two bedrooms, one with two doubles and one with a queen bed with comfortable mattresses and a kitchen and living area with a table and chairs (which we never used as we always ate outside on the rear covered porch). It is on the second floor which allows for great breezes. We rented Villa Almendro which we would highly recommend. The property itself is very well maintained, extremely clean and secure. Many wonderful restaurants of all price points are within walking distance.
A two minute walk down a path across the street takes you to a beautiful beach that includes shade under palms, great waves, and incredible tidal pools. The location of Villas Solar is superb for accessibility to beach, market and restaurants.
